Carlos Queiros
Carlos Queirós is an artisan bladesmith specializing in folding knives, based in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. With a profound family heritage in arts and crafts, he began his professional journey in his family’s goldsmith workshop. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to various creative projects, with a particular emphasis on traditional manual crafts.
In 2016, he discovered his passion for cutlery, initially as a hobby driven by curiosity. Fascinated by the mechanical complexity and challenges of folding knives, he quickly committed himself to mastering the craft. Inspired by makers who develop their own mechanisms, Carlos Queirós engineered his own unique and exclusive locking system: the TRS mechanism, a significant milestone in his career.
Over time, he shifted his focus toward creating artistic folding knives, dedicating himself to the design and creation of one-of-a-kind pieces. Working with a diverse array of materials, including rare and exotic specimens, he meticulously transforms every piece from the initial sketch to the final finish. His process emphasizes originality and artisanal dexterity, converting raw materials into authentic works of functional art.
As the founder of Queirós Knives, he has earned international acclaim for his distinctive designs and technical innovation. His work has been honored with the "Most Innovative Design" award at Blade Show Atlanta 2024 and the "Best of Show" award at SICAC Paris in September 2024, two of the most prestigious distinctions in the world of artistic cutlery. His work is admired by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide, with each piece serving as a reflection of his philosophy: authenticity, precision, and creativity.
